Meet Brooke Farris

In addition to being a 2 time Australian Surfing Champion, Brooke worked as the ASP Women’s tour manager, and is currently a leading influence at Rip Curl as the GM of digital. Brooke’s role includes executing and overseeing the digital brand strategies for Rip Curl globally so she will be an invaluable asset as SurfAid prepares to celebrate our 20th year anniversary!

Brooke has spent time where SurfAid works saying, “I’ve made some amazing memories surfing in Indonesia but it’s a trip to a village in the Mentawai Islands that really left its mark. The locals embraced our group, greeting us with the Indonesian national anthem and showing us their village. I had surfed the Mentawais for years, yet I had never really considered the locals, their lifestyle or even their basic needs. I love that SurfAid helps such villages to become self sufficient and sustainable. I’m hoping that through my connection with surfing, I can make a valuable contribution to SurfAid’s future and the communities it supports.”

Meet Tia Matza

Tia Matza has been supporting SurfAid’s fundraising and volunteer efforts since 2011.Tia was introduced to SurfAid through the SurfAid Cup Malibu, helping to secure one of SurfAid’s longest standing SurfAid Cup teams. Tia has also helped with team recruitment, connecting SurfAid with last year’s highest fundraising team, the Foam Ballers, as well as event support and auction items. Tia has hosted SurfAid informational nights at her home and regularly advocates on SurfAid’s behalf in the community.
Tia is an artist, performer, and certified integrative nutritionist and movement coach. Her background provides her with a deeper understanding of the importance of SurfAid’s health programming. Her goal is to continue to support SurfAid’s recruitment efforts as well as provide a year round presence to ensure that SurfAid remains a key part of the Malibu community outside of event season.

“I am thrilled to be a member of the US affiliate Board of Directors for SurfAid. I am looking forward to learning about new programs as well as bolstering the established events and programs that are already in place. The SurfAid tribe has touched my family’s life for years, infusing the importance of service, world geography, and the impact of providing hand ups not hand outs in my boys’ lives.”

Welcome Tia and Brooke and thank you for helping SurfAid improve lives, one remote village at a time.
